It has been a terrible holiday season for Donald Trump. He's facing multiple criminal investigations, he's losing cabinet members and he even lost the House. While he was busy tweeting his emotions over the weekend about SNL and Michael Cohen's sentencing, his lawyer Rudy Giuliani and senior advisor Stephen Miller

Russia’s Helped Trump Report States

Russia’s plot to wield social media sites to divide Americans and aid Donald Trump in the 2016 election was even more massive and sophisticated than previously understood, and efforts to disseminate disruptive messages continue.

Those are the findings of two independent groups of researchers tasked by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee.

The reports, released Monday, concluded that posts from fake Russian accounts on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube led to more than 300 million engagements between 2015 and 2017. Among the groups most heavily targeted by the Russians: African-Americans.

The researchers found a cross-platform effort to target black Americans, often with memes about police brutality, and later feeding them voter suppression messages.

Among the narratives shared with black audiences was a meme "I WON’T VOTE, WILL YOU?" Another said "Everybody SUCKS, We’re Screwed 2016." Others urged votes for Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate.

“What is clear is that all of the messaging clearly sought to benefit the Republican Party -- and specifically, Donald Trump,” wrote researchers at the University of Oxford and Graphika, a company that analyzes social networks. Right-wing voters were encouraged to support Trump, while left-wing groups were “provided messaging that sought to confuse, distract, and ultimately discourage members from voting.”

The findings criticized social media companies for publicly minimizing the use of their platforms -- and for not sharing key data, such as the many comments generated as well as the posts’ metadata, so they could better judge the impact.
“It appears that the platforms may have misrepresented or evaded in some of their statements to Congress,” researchers from New Knowledge, a cybersecurity company, wrote. “It is unclear whether these answers were the result of faulty or lacking analysis, or a more deliberate evasion.”
Researchers for the two teams analyzed more than 10 million Twitter posts from thousands of Russian fake accounts, more than 116,000 posts on Instagram and 61,000 on Facebook and more than 1,000 YouTube videos.
Facebook said it cooperated with the Senate Intelligence Committee by providing thousands of ads and other content and took steps to prevent voter suppression ahead of the 2018 midterms.
A Twitter spokesman said the company was focused on improving the public conversation on its platform and that protecting the integrity of elections was an important aspect of that mission. The company has made strides since 2016 in that regard, including by releasing data to enable independent research of election manipulation, the spokesman said.

We always look for cars with Trump stickers 2020

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting.

Well, for example, the other day,  my wife, and I went into town and visited a shop.

When we came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket.
We went up to him and I said,
‘Come on, man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?’

He ignored us and continued writing the ticket.
I called him an “asshole”.
He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn-out tires.

So Kate called him a shit head.
He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first.
Then he started writing more tickets.
This went on for about 20 minutes.
The more we abused him, the more tickets he wrote.
He finally finished, sneered at us and walked away.

Just then our bus arrived, and we got on it and went home.

We always look for cars with Trump stickers 2020.
We try to have a little fun each day now that we’re retired.

It’s so important at our age.

Ontario private sector to own and operate bricks-and-mortar cannabis shops.

Doug Ford is reportedly getting set to rip up his predecessor’s plan for recreational cannabis retail in Ontario. Multiple reports indicate the Progressive Conservative government will switch to a private model, rather than keep storefront pot sales in the hands of the province.

There’s been ample criticism that the Ontario Cannabis Store rollout was happening too slowly, prompting fear the province won’t be ready on Oct. 17 to meet demand and pull sales out of the black market.  https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/

The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, July 27, edition that an unnamed source says Ontario Finance Minister Vic Fedeli and Attorney-General Caroline Mulroney will announce plans next week to allow the private sector to own and operate bricks-and-mortar cannabis shops.

The Globe's Laura Stone and Christina Pellegrini write that the source says the government will still control the wholesale and distribution of the product to the stores and manage on-line sales.

The move marks a seismic change in how Ontarians will shop for legal recreational weed come Oct. 17. It also opens the door for the companies and entrepreneurs that end up being awarded retail licences to profit from the green rush that has already been so lucrative for many investors and licensed producers.

The province's previous Liberal government had planned to give the Liquor Control Board of Ontario a monopoly on the sale of recreational cannabis, with 40 physical stores set to open this year under a subsidiary of the LCBO called the Ontario Cannabis Store.

Now, the Ontario system is expected to mirror the Alberta model. It is not known yet how many retail store licences will be granted under Ontario's new model.

5G-5th-Generation Wireless Systems

5th-Generation Wireless Systems (abbreviated 5G) is the marketing term for technologies that satisfy ITU IMT-2020 requirements and 3GPP Release 15. Key features of 5G include high throughput, low latency, high mobility and high connection density. 5G will use additional spectrum in the existing LTE frequency range (600 MHz to 6 GHz) and new Millimeter wave bands (24-86 GHz), which can support data rates of up to 20 gigabits per second (Gbit/s). 5G infrastructure will use Massive MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) to significantly increase network capacity.
ITU has divided 5G network services into three categories: enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) or handsets, Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications (URLLC), which includes industrial applications and autonomous vehicles, and Massive Machine Type Communications (MMTC) or sensors[1]. Initial 5G deployments will focus on eMBB[2] and fixed wireless[3], which makes use of many of the same capabilities as eMBB.

The 5G Network - Trump

The 5G network

Trump administration is considering a plan to nationalize the next-generation 5G wireless network to protect against cyber-attacks from China or anyone else. According to sensitive documents obtained by Axios:

"...a PowerPoint deck and a memo - both produced by a senior National Security Council official - which were presented recently to senior officials at other agencies in the Trump administration."

Furthermore, according to Axios,

"Trump national security officials are considering an unprecedented federal takeover of a portion of the nation's mobile network to guard against China..."

The memo goes on to explain why America needs a centralized, nationwide 5G network within three years. Moreover, instead of compete against the major carriers, it suggests "the best option would be for the US government pay for and build the network and then rent it to carriers like AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile."

The memo continued,

"It is necessary and possible to build a secure, high-performance, world-leading 5G network platform by the end of the first term."

And,

"It refers to the nationalization of 5G as the "21st century equivalent of the Eisenhower National Highway System" a reference the 1950s-era federal project to build out the US interstate highway system..."

Note: It is still necessary for engineers to work out 'kinks' to support different case-loads of usage.

As the magnitude of this project sets in, one can see Trump's inherent motivation. There are just a few problems. First of all, it would cost hundreds of billions in taxpayer money to fund.

Fact-checking Donald Trump's fake news awards

Fact-checking Donald Trump's fake news awards

The list of "fake news" winners released by President Donald Trump and the Republican Party on Thursday is mainly a tally of reported mistakes about the president and his administration.
Many of the offending journalists and organizations had already acknowledged and corrected their errors. In some cases, there were disciplinary actions.
It is fitting, however, that the final winner is for general reporting about "Russia collusion." The investigations remain under way, and Trump recently became the first two-time winner of PolitiFact’s Lie of the Year for saying that the whole Russia story was a myth invented by frustrated Democrats.
The awards announcement by the Republican National Committee actually has two parts. The first focuses on what the media got wrong, and the second discusses Trump accomplishments that the GOP says got short shrift from the media.
At PolitiFact, we know a bit about fake news, which we define as intentionally manipulated information (and not, as Trump sees it, critical coverage he does not like or mainstream media reporting errors). We’ve debunked literally hundreds of dodgy ersatz news articles that get passed around on the web.
So here is a fact-checkers’ take on the Fake News Awards.

Trump shithole countries

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Thursday balked at an immigration deal that would include protections for people from Haiti and African countries, demanding to know at a White House meeting why he should accept immigrants from “shithole countries” rather than people from places like Norway, according to people with direct knowledge of the conversation.

Mr. Trump’s remarks left members of Congress attending the meeting in the Cabinet Room alarmed and mystified. They were there discussing an emerging bipartisan deal to give legal status to immigrants illegally brought to the United States as children, the people said, speaking on condition of anonymity without authorization to discuss the explosive proceedings of the private meeting.
When Mr. Trump heard that Haitians were among those who would benefit, he asked if they could be left out of the plan, according to the people familiar with the conversation, asking, “Why do we want people from Haiti here?”
