"Golf ball or even baseball sized hail is possible from some of the thunderstorms, with winds of 60 to 70 mph," he added.
"With repeated rains over the past several days, flooding will also be concern, especially in Oklahoma and Texas."
Tornadoes and thunderstorms threatened tens of millions of people Saturday as a weekend of severe weather loomed across the Plains, including areas already hit by twisters.
Golf-ball sized hail and deadly floods battered Oklahoma late Friday, and there were preliminary reports of three twisters in Texas.
The threat extends through Sunday — Mother's Day — and includes a busy weekend of commencement ceremonies. The University of Oklahoma already canceled graduation activities scheduled for Friday night due to "dangerous weather conditions."
