Rob Ford Faces Border Troubles...

Ford’s admission that he smoked crack cocaine in the last two years leaves him with a border problem. While he might still be granted entry into the United States — applications are handled on a case-by-case basis — he could also be rejected, according to the U.S. government and a Toronto immigration lawyer.

WASHINGTON—Toronto Mayor Rob Ford says he wants to attend the Winter Classic hockey game near Detroit. He may not get past Windsor.

Ford’s admission that he smoked crack cocaine in the last two years leaves him with a border problem. While he might still be granted entry into the United States — applications are handled on a case-by-case basis — he could also be rejected, according to the U.S. government and a Toronto immigration lawyer.
Under U.S. law, the mere admission of illegal drug use — in Ford’s case, an admission broadcast far and wide on American television — is grounds for a Canadian to be turned away at a crossing. The absence of criminal charges, let alone a conviction, doesn’t matter.
U.S. officials declined to discuss the specifics of Ford’s case, citing privacy laws. But they readily addressed the question of whether a hypothetical Canadian citizen would be welcome in the U.S. after speaking publicly about consuming crack cocaine.

Where to get the cheapest $0.56 cents ThanksGiving Dinner...Arizona and it comes

Joe Arpaio

Thanksgiving menu is all set! Hope the inmates give thanks for this special meal being served in the jails tomorrow.

Maricopa County, Arizona, Sheriff Joe Arpaio has planned a particularly economical meal for the roughly 7,500 to 10,000 inmates in his jail system this Thanksgiving.
The meal comes in at a cost of just 56 cents per inmate, and its main entrĂ©e will be 24-cent vegetarian turkey soy casserole. Arpaio tweeted the Thanksgiving menu Wednesday morning.
“Hope the inmates give thanks for this special meal being served in the jails tomorrow," Arpaio's tweet said.
The official Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office website features a bio of Arpaio that touts his accomplishments in providing inmates with “the cheapest meals in the U.S.” by feeding inmates “only twice daily, to cut the labor costs of meal delivery." Arpaio has “even stopped serving them salt and pepper” to save taxpayer money, according to the bio.
The average meal for an inmate in a Maricopa County jail costs between 15 and 40 cents, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office website.
In September, Arpaio implemented a vegetarian diet for inmates in an effort to save $100,000 on food costs for prisoners. He also announced in March a plan to charge inmates $1 for their meals, according to ABC15.
"Everybody else has to pay for their food, why should [inmates] get freebies?" Arpaio said in an ABC15 news video.
Last Thanksgiving, the controversial sheriff complained about the cost of providing a Thanksgiving meal to each inmate in a press release, calling the “whopping 68 cents” paid for every meal an “astronomical increase" from the cost of previous Thanksgiving dinners.
A 2012 East Oregonian article about a Thanksgiving dinner for inmates that cost 98 cents per prisoner quoted an assistant prison superintendent, who noted that treating inmates with a sense of humanity at the holidays helps prepare them for life after prison and may reduce recidivism rates. "We don't want to release angry inmates," the assistant noted. The Oregon meal included 634 pounds of sliced turkey breast, cranberry sauce and gravy.
In a Veteran’s Day press release earlier this month, Arpaio announced another questionable jailhouse initiative called “Patriotic Jails,” which introduced an exclusively “bread and water" diet for 30-day periods of time as punishment for allegedly unpatriotic acts.
“Any defacement or vandalism of the flags by inmates comes with the penalty of bread and water. Ten inmates are currently on bread and water for this infraction,” Arpaio said in the press release.

$15 Minimum Wage Passes In Washington state

Squeaking by with a mere 77-vote margin, the ballot measure known as Proposition 1 will set a $15 wage floor for an estimated 6,000 airport and hotel workers in SeaTac, Wash., a suburb of 27,000 residents south of Seattle.

It appears the ayes have it.
After weeks of careful ballot counting, officials in Washington state on Tuesday certified the results in a potentially historic vote that will create far and away the highest minimum wage in America.
Squeaking by with a mere 77-vote margin, the ballot measure known as Proposition 1 will set a $15 wage floor for an estimated 6,000 airport and hotel workers in SeaTac, Wash., a suburb of 27,000 residents south of Seattle.
While the vote count had been too close to call in the days following the Nov. 5 election, the King County Elections commission posted the official results on its website late Tuesday: 3,040 in favor of the measure, 2,963 against. There were 12,108 registered voters eligible to cast ballots.
Although the results have been certified, they can still be challenged by anyone willing to foot the bill for a recount, according to Kim van Ekstrom, spokeswoman for the elections commission. Van Ekstrom said ballot signatures had continued to trickle in during the days leading up to certification, but no more ballots would be counted.
The ballot campaign was closely watched -- and funded, to the tune of about $2 million -- by business and labor groups, who viewed it as a potential bellwether voteon similar wage measures throughout the country. The $15 wage floor in SeaTac will be more than double the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, and it will likely serve as a rallying cry for labor unions and low-wage worker advocates as they try to raise minimum wages on the federal, state and local levels.
Given the money originally dumped into the campaign by the business community, backers of the measure shouldn't be surprised if opponents file for a recount. An umbrella group that lobbied against Proposition 1, called Common Sense SeaTac, told NBC News Tuesday it would challenge the results. Van Ekstrom said challengers would need to put down a deposit of 25 cents per ballot for a hand recount, or 15 cents for a machine recount. That's a small sum for a business advocacy group, though van Ekstrom said the final price tag of the recount would be much higher.
Along with setting the $15 minimum wage, the new SeaTac law will also tie the minimum wage to an inflation index; guarantee that tipped workers don't have to share their gratuities; and allow workers to accrue up to 6.5 days of guaranteed paid sick leave per year. Smaller businesses were carved out of the legislation, and the law would only apply to certain employers in and around Seattle–Tacoma International Airport.
The ballot measure's provisional success is an unmitigated victory for labor groups, particularly the Service Employees International Union, which played a lead role in pushing Proposition 1. Not only does the legislation include the kind of employer mandates championed by organized labor, it also allows for those mandates to bewaived in a collective bargaining contract, possibly giving companies an incentive to enter into one.
As in almost any minimum wage fight, backers of the proposal said it would improve the lives of thousands of low-wage workers, while the business community said it would raise costs on employers and force them to cut back on hiring.
Abdirahman Abdullahi, an employee of the airport's Hertz rental car location, told HuffPost earlier this month that he took a leave of absence from his job to campaign in support of the measure. "The workers at the airport work hard but don't get what they deserve," Abdullahi said. "They're juggling two or three jobs just to pay the bills, let alone to save money. This initiative ... it's going to improve their lives."
Backers of the proposition had declared victory on election night, but their edge gradually eroded as more ballots were counted in the days that followed. At one point, their lead had dwindled to just 19 votes.

New Book Tax Is Not A Four Letter Word

A new book, Tax is Not a Four-Letter Word, tries to make us realize the vital connection between taxes and the public good. The inspiration was the Conservatives’ cutting two percentage points from the GST by 2008.

Rob Ford was elected as Toronto mayor in 2010 after promising to restore respect for taxpayers.
Stephen Harper became Prime Minister in 2006 after promising to chop the goods and services tax (GST).
Hugh Mackenzie urges readers to think their way through the day, making a note of every time they use, consume or benefit from a public service.
Here’s what happened when he did it:
  • The alarm clock buzzed and he turned on the light. The electricity was distributed to his home by a public utility and probably generated by a public utility.
  • He used the toilet and flushed. The waste disappeared into his home’s plumbing system, to be distributed and processed kilometres away as a public service, thanks to the taxes he paid.
  • He brushed his teeth using water that came out of the tap when he turned the handle, water that was there because he paid his taxes.
  • He drove his car down a street that wouldn’t be there if he hadn’t paid his taxes. He dropped off his child to catch a bus (paid for by taxes) to go to school (also paid for by taxes).
  • He made it to his destination on crowded roads without incident, thanks to the traffic signals and police officers keeping him safe (also paid for by taxes).
  • At the end of the day, he listened to CBC radio news in the car and sat down to dinner without thinking about the safety of the food he ate, thanks to rules created, enforced and paid for by taxes.

  • Double Your Money In How Long? Use The Rule of 72

The Rule of 72 tells you how long it takes an investment to double. The number 72 is divided by the interest rate and you get a rough idea of the number of years the doubling will take. If you have $10,000 in investments and they earn 4 per cent, it will take 18 years for the $10,000 to become $20,000 (72 divided by 4 = 18).
If you know how many times the investment has doubled, you can work back to find the rate of return. A $10,000 investment that doubled to $20,000 in 18 years returned an annual rate of return of 4 per cent (72 / 18 = 4).

Catarina Migliorini was offered $780,000 for her virginity ...she wants $1.5 Million

Catarina Migliorini was offered $780,000 for her virginity from a Japanese millionaire who bid for the privilege through a controversial online auction.

The Brazilian college student who attempted to sell her virginity through an online auction last year is hoping lightning will strike twice.
In October, 2012, Catarina Migliorini was offered $780,000 for her virginity from a Japanese millionaire who bid for the privilege through a controversial online auction.
That deal was never consummated, but now she is attempting to do it again through her own website, VirginsWanted2.com.
"Well, after being featured by so many media outlets in so many countries, I decided to actually auction off my virginity," she told The Huffington Post by email via a translator.
The bidding ends Dec. 12, but Migliorini said the minimum bid for her to get into bed is $100,000. She told the Brazilian website PurePeople.com.br that her goal is to get $1.5 million.
Migliorini's previous auction was part of a proposed documentary called Virgins Wanted being made by Australian filmmaker Justin Sisely.
The auction made Migliorini a celebrity and Playboy cover girl in her native country, but also aroused controversy and skepticism.

Scam: Uniformed delivery man turned up with a beautiful basket of flowers and wine...

WARNING: Be wary of accepting any "surprise gift or package", which you neither expected nor personally ordered, especially if it involves any kind of payment as a condition of receiving the gift or package. Also, never accept anything if you do not personally know and/or there is no proper identification of who the sender is.

Above all, the only time you should give out any personal credit/debit card information is when you yourself initiated the purchase or transaction! NEVER SWIPE YOUR CREDIT CARD ON ANY MACHINE UNLESS THE FIRM IS KNOWN TO YOU.

BE ON THE ALERT, THE HOLIDAY SEASON IS COMING

Just when you think you've heard it all.  Here comes another scam.  This scam is very clever. Be very careful out there!  One could easily fall for this - beware of people bearing gifts!

There is a new and clever credit card scam.  Please circulate this.  Someone it happened to says it works like this:

Wednesday a week ago, I had a phone call from someone who said that he was from some outfit called: "Express Couriers" asking if I was going to be home because there was a package for me, and the caller said that the delivery would arrive at my home in roughly an hour.  And sure enough, about an hour later, a uniformed delivery man turned up with a beautiful basket of flowers and wine.  I was very surprised since it did not involve any special occasion or holiday, and I certainly didn't expect anything like it.  Intrigued about who would send me such a gift, I inquired as to who the sender is.  The delivery man's reply was, he was only delivering the gift package, but allegedly a card was being sent separately; (the card has never arrived!).  There was also a consignment note with the gift.

He then went on to explain that because the gift contained alcohol, there was a $3.50 "delivery charge" as proof that he had actually delivered the package to an adult, and not just left it on the doorstep where it could be stolen or taken by anyone.

This sounded logical and I offered to pay him cash.  He then said that the company required the payment to be by credit or debit card only so that everything is properly accounted for.

My husband, who by this time was standing beside me, pulled his wallet out of his pocket with the credit/debit card, and 'John', the "delivery man", asked my husband to swipe the card on the small mobile card machine which had a small screen and keypad where Frank was also asked to enter the card's PIN and security number.  A receipt was printed out and given to us.

To our horrible surprise, between Thursday and the following Monday, $4,000 had been charged/withdrawn from our credit/debit account at various ATM machines.

It appeared that somehow the "mobile credit card machine" which the delivery man carried now had all the info necessary to create a "dummy" card with all our card details after my husband swiped our card and entered the requested PIN and security number.

Upon finding out about the illegal transactions on our card, we immediately notified the bank which issued us the card, and our credit/debit account was closed.

We also personally went to the Police, where it was confirmed that it is definitely a scam because several households had been similarly hit.

WARNING: Be wary of accepting any "surprise gift or package", which you neither expected nor personally ordered, especially if it involves any kind of payment as a condition of receiving the gift or package. Also, never accept anything if you do not personally know or there is no proper identification of who the sender is.

Above all, the only time you should give out any personal credit/debit card information is when you yourself initiated the purchase or transaction!

If you pass this on, it may just prevent someone else from being swindled!

Friday Afternoon Chuckle Just For You

A little boy was waiting for his mother to come out of the grocery store. As he waited, he was approached
by a man who asked, "Son, can you tell me where the Post Office is?"

The little boy replied, "Sure! Just go straight down this street a coupla blocks and turn to your right."

The man thanked the boy kindly and said, "I'm the new pastor in town.
I'd like for you to come to church on Sunday.
I'll show you how to get to Heaven."

The little boy replied with a chuckle.
"You're bullshitting me, right?   You don't even know the way to the Post Office”

The Ancient writing was on the wall... A Must Read

Written across the wall of the cave were the following symbols

It was considered a unique find and the writings were said to be at least three thousand years old

The piece of stone was removed, brought to the museum, and archaeologists from around the world came to study the ancient symbols. They held a huge meeting after months of conferences to discuss the meaning of the markings.

The President of the society pointed to first drawing and said This is a woman. We can see these people held women in high esteem. You can also tell they were intelligent, as the next symbol is a donkey, so they were smart enough to have animals to help them till the soil.
The next drawing is a shovel, which means they had tools to help them

Even further proof of their high intelligence is the fish which means that if a famine hit the earth and food didn't grow, they would seek food from the sea. The last symbol appears to be the Star of David which means they were evidently Hebrews.

    The audience applauded enthusiastically.

Then a little old Jewish man stood up In the back of the room and said, "Idiots, Hebrew is read from right to left
It says Holy Mackerel, Dig The Ass On That Chic

When Did EasyWeb become TD Hardweb

TD Easyweb Designers Screw Up By Removing Nicknames Option!

Have you tried to login lately? Today you will find that all your nicknames have been removed and you will have your ATM numbers for account access in the drop down menu but NO NICKNAMES associated with the accounts.  Hope you have a great memory for 13 digit numbers when you select an account because otherwise you will waste a ton of time logging in.

    So the question is:

Where did the easyweb OLD login screen go?

Any business or personal that has multiple green ATM cards and accounts will need to reconfigure each account to allow you easy access like you had before for online banking.

This is a terrible, time consuming mess. Typical of web designers who know NOTHING of the Customer experience. They come up with some NEW idea to justify the redesign and it turns the TD EasyWeb into The TD HardWeb.

All clients using Easyweb should be outraged, the writer tried for 2 days to navigate a solution
and finally decided to call in. It took 2 hrs of my time to learn the solution and make the changesto all business and personal accounts.

After the telecall to Customer Agent the Agent AND writer learned that some web designer decided that they would eliminate the nickname option, this is ludicrous.99% of all clients will NOT be able to do this without hand holding by a knowledgable customer service agent.

The steps needed for Each Green ATM Access Card Personal/Business:

    1. Login To Easyweb select the account from menu, add password enter dashboard
    2. Customize Web Option, locate the user name update field for green card
    3. Create a user name save then log out
    4. Sign in with the exact user name and password, then sign out again
    5. You should see the user name just created for 1 card
    6. Locate the number for the Card in the Drop Down Menu
    7. Remove that cards ATM green card number from the menu ,
    8. The truncated user name now appears.
    This web design is flawed,
    TD Bank
    Techies screwed this up royally
    Heads should roll!

Man Buys House Next To Ex-Wife, Erects Middle Finger Statue (PHOTO)

The middle-finger statue was brought to the world's attention, according to Gawker,by Lenka Tuohy, the daughter of Markovitz's ex.
"[I]t's hard for me to enjoy my baths now because my fav tub is in my moms bathroom which faces out towards tif and alans house," Tuohy wrote in a tweet that is no longer available.
Markovitz who, BuzzFeed reports, is a strip club owner and author of "Topless Prophet: The True Story of America’s Most Successful Gentleman’s Club Entrepreneur," said his beef is not with his ex, but with her new lover.
Deadline Detroit reports that, according to Markovitz, his ex had an affair with the man she's now cohabiting with.
"I'm so over her," Markovitz said. "This is about him. This is about him not being a man."
Markovitz told MyFox Detroit he never meant for his statue to make headlines.

Rob Ford Makes The NY Times

Doug Ford, Is That A Bottle Of Vodka In Your Office?

That sure does look like a bottle of Grey Goose behind your desk, Doug Ford.
Eagle-eyed Reddit user Physicalred spotted the bottle in the background during Toronto councillor Doug Ford's interview with CNN on Wednesday. He posted a close-up of the bottle to Reddit Toronto, where it quickly shot to the top of the thread.
Other Redditors debated whether it was just a water bottle with a blue cap, like Eska(although one changed his mind after watching the video). Others did closer comparisons of the bottle with Grey Goose, and well, judge for yourselves:

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford The Ultimate Bobblehead

Several hundred people lined up for hours to buy a bobblehead figurine of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. Part of the $20 cost went towards the City of Toronto United Way Employee Campaign.

Ford promised he’d be back Wednesday selling Ford Nation t-shirts, also for $20 with an undeclared amount of the proceeds going to the United Way.

Those lined up had assorted plans for the collector’s item, dozens of which were already being resold online. One seller in Etobicoke is asking for $25,000: “only 1,000 sold, it will be worth millions one day. Only crack-smoking mayor in the world.”
Another seller, looking for $500 promised the money would go to a charity dealing with addiction: a “win-win for everyone, even Rob Ford.”
